Relapse

Unfortunately upon arriving in Bethesda, it was revealed that I have relapsed in the screening process and that my Leukemia is back. I’ve been undergoing intense chemotherapy this week and will continue to do so until I’m ready to under go the Bone Marrow Transplant. More updates are on the way, been really busy.

Also I just want to thank everyone wh0 participated in the beer bottle drive throughout the community!

My Transplant

Just got home from Michigan a couple days ago, my chemotherapy went good and now I’ll be leaving for Bethesda, Maryland tomorrow for my Bone Marrow Transplant. I’ll most likely be gone to Bethesda for 6 months. My Bone Marrow Transplant will be done at the National Institute of Health and hopefully all goes well and I’ll be able to return home within 6 months on my way to recovery.

Unfortunately I’ll be back in Michigan for about a month. I’ll be doing a round of chemotherapy followed by a stay in the hospital. When my blood counts recover from my chemotherapy then I will be able to return home.

To eveyone who came and contributed, donated, who gave their time and for all their hardwork and generosity. Thank you all so much for making this fundraising event for Wes Laporte a huge sucess. $2743.11 was raised. This will go directly to Wes’ medical expenses. This was very much needed and greatly appreciated. Great turnout and great work everyone.

Special Thanks – Pat Blais and Judy Revait for all their generous donations. Kelly Vaux her niece Mariah and Mariah’ mother who came with 2 huge loads in an SUV of donations. Anna Hilner, her girls Tori and Kaitlin for all the great baking. Ken Beaudin who advertised the garage sale with signs and on the radio. To the girls Emily, Brittany and Taylor for all their help. There were recently 2 fundraisers held for me and I just wanted to give a special thanks and some detail to those involved. Unfortunately during both of these events I was hospitalized and was not able to attend or be active in the involvement. I apologize and want to send out a special thanks to everyone involved in making both events such a great success.

The first fundraiser was a Halloween Party that was held on October 31st at Caboto Club in Windsor. $2415 was raised in support of the Wes Laporte Foundation and the event was a huge success. Special thanks goes out to

Update

Yesterday I met with the doc in Michigan to discuss the results of my Bone Marrow Biopsy that was performed last Monday. At this point there’s still Leukemia present and Chemotherapy will need to be continued. The plan in to have me undergo a round of Chemotherapy called the FLAG regiment starting next monday, this will continue for the entire week and on the last day, which will be friday I will be admitted to the hospital again. There I will stay to recover from the chemotherapy and once my blood counts are stable and I’m no longer transfusion and antibiotic dependent I will be able to return home. Once I return home we will schedule another Bone Marrow Biopsy to see where I am once again. The Chemotherapy treatments will be 4 hours a day for 5 days and then I will be admitted to the hospital to recover for 2-3 weeks, assuming everything goes accordingly.
